William D. Bodman, CA

William D. BodmanBill articled with the firm Sill Streuber Meger & Fiske in its Selkirk office to begin his career in chartered accountancy.  Bill was partner in charge of the Selkirk office from 1970 to 1990.  In 1990 he was selected to be the administration partner for the firm, located in the Winnipeg office.  In 2003 at age of 60, and after 41 years with the same firm, Bill retired.

Tom Sill was a former partner, and in 2003 Bill joined the Thomas Sill Foundation as a governor and treasurer for the Foundation.  His term of office ended on December 31, 2009.

In the community, Bill has been a head referee in minor football, a baseball coach for ten years and a coach with a co-ed adult broomball team.  He is a past president of the Selkirk Development Committee and the Selkirk Youth Council.  Bill was a founding member of the Marine Museum of Manitoba and after twenty-five years and many positions he retired from the board of directors in 1998.  For two years he was on the Finance Committee for the successful World Junior Hockey Championships held in Manitoba in 1999.  In 2009 Bill was appointed as treasurer for the Selkirk & District Community Foundation.

Bill is a past president of the Kinsmen Club of Selkirk and is a Life Member in the Kinsmen Clubs of Canada.  He is currently a member of the Rotary Club of Selkirk and was president of the club in 1994 – 95.

Bill was finance chair for the 2003 Western Canadian Summer Games held in Selkirk and three surrounding communities.  The Games generated a surplus of $265,000 which was turned over to the Selkirk & District Community Foundation to establish a Games Legacy Fund.

In 2004 Bill was selected as Citizen of the Year for Selkirk.

Bill has been married to Gail since 1967.  They have two sons.  Willie, and his wife Louise and their children Bree & Beau live in Grandview, Manitoba.  Their second son, Kelly, who is also a chartered accountant, and his wife Monika live in Frankfurt, Germany along with their children Elle and Ben.
