Names operates a haven for refugees and women in downtown Winnipeg.

furniture and capital repairs were funded with this grant.
Alpha House is a shelter for abused women and their children.
The
Council is conducting research into the building of a seniors residence
in the Weston area.
These
centres serve women and children who need guidance and information
on a variety of subjects including parenting, nutrition, health
and so on. West Central has acquired a building, Fort Garry
is improving its core area location and Interlake has developed
a counselling room.
New
windows, fire doors and air conditioning have been partly funded
for this HIV/AIDS hospice.
Anna's
House is a family resource centre dedicated to serving expectant
parents and families with children up to 5 years old. It is
expanding its premises.
The
Foundation has traditionally helped agencies that are helping others
at Christmas.
"Community
Roots" is a magazine devoted to Manitoba's thriving community
foundation movement. It is published by the Winnipeg Foundation.
Service
to men with mental illness and a history of conflict with the law
is the work of El'Dad. Its administrative building has been
expanded.
The
Centre operates the Child Find Manitoba program. It has initiated
a new component delivered from community centres.
A new
convection oven will help the Centre serve its expanding food services
program.
The
Madison offers accommodation for adults living with mental illness.
Building improvements were partly funded.
St.
Aidan's is an independent school which seeks to secure the future
of inner-city students. A classroom has been renovated.
A satellite
operation in Virden has been renovated as a safe location for recreation.
Capital
projects for these high needs daycares were partly funded.
A new
skateboard park is being constructed in Gimli.
At-risk
young people are given a leg up by Knowles Centre. New construction
is taking place on the facility's campus.
A new
skateboard park is being built in Selkirk.
The
Manitoba Children's Museum has expanded its facility.


The
grandstand at the home of the outstanding Threshermen's Reunion
now has a roof.
A memorial
bearing the names of patients who died from tuberculosis at the
Manitoba Sanitorium in Ninette, and who are buried in a mass grave
near Belmont, has been erected.
The
Village of Neubergthal is a National Historic Site which contains
a collection of heritage Mennonite housebarns. This grant
has partly funded the restoration of the Eddie Schmidt Housebarn.
The grant is payable over 2 years.
The
deck of the M.S. Bradbury has been restored.
The
Baptismal Register of historic St. Peter's Dynevor Church (the "Peguis"
church) has been preserved.
These
personal care homes have engaged in capital projects including a
secure outdoor walkway, a sunroom, general expansion and a gazebo.
The
St. James Centre has engaged the services of a fundraiser,
the Charleswood Centre has expanded its facility and Gwen Secter
has purchased a commercial dishwasher.
Payable
over 2 years, this grant will continue the work of the Foundations
in the Lake Winnipeg Watershed initiative.
Deerwood
administers an outdoor laboratory which seeks to demonstrate better
water stewardship. This grant helped to expand the Tobacco
Creek Model Watershed.

outreach program is conducted by the Society.
The
Movement Centre offers alternative treatments for people with mobility
challenges. A new "boot camp" format is being offered
for stroke patients.
Capital
improvements have been assisted at this hospice which provides palliative
care.
This
grant will help Winnipeg Harvest enhance a program which makes free
school supplies available to low income families.


Surround
Sound has been introduced at Video Pool to enhance the resources
available to its members.
The
Opera is acquiring its own, in-house ticketing system.
A new,
environmentally controlled film vault will preserve Manitoba's film
making heritage.
Freeze
Frame introduces children to animation. Promotional banners
have been acquired.
A new
sound system has been partly funded.
Capital
improvements have been made to the Watson Arts Centre.
This
national agency will hold its annual conference in Winnipeg in 2010.
